Scarlet41 and ROOTS Foundation Join Forces to Transform Historic Tunapuna Old Post Office into Heritage and Innovation Hub

Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – [Insert Date] — Scarlet41 is proud to announce a landmark partnership with the Oral Tradition ROOTS Foundation to restore and reimagine the historic Tunapuna Old Post Office as a world-class Heritage and Innovation Hub.

The collaboration blends ROOTS Foundation’s cultural mission and local leadership with Scarlet41’s international networks and sponsorship capacity. Together, the organizations will deliver a vibrant space for youth empowerment, literacy, cultural diplomacy, and global exchange.

Under the agreement:

ROOTS Foundation will serve as the primary leaseholder and program driver through its CAFÉTT (Creative Academy for EduTainmenT) initiative.

Scarlet41 will co-administer the Hub, leveraging its global partnerships and sponsors to fund refurbishment, programming, and international events.

The Hub will host classrooms, co-working spaces, a podcast/media studio, and cultural venues for both local communities and international partners.

The project qualifies under the National Trust’s Heritage Tax Allowance Programme, which provides corporate sponsors with a 150% tax deduction on contributions — a powerful incentive for local and international businesses to invest in Trinidad and Tobago’s heritage.

“This partnership is more than the restoration of a building — it is about restoring opportunity, culture, and dignity for our communities, while opening doors for Trinidad and Tobago to the world,” said Pearce Robinson, Chairman & Director of Oversight, Scarlet41. “We are honored to work alongside ROOTS Foundation to ensure this historic site becomes a beacon of youth empowerment and international collaboration.”

Mtima Solwazi, Founder and General Manager of the ROOTS Foundation, added:

“We are delighted to partner with Scarlet41 on this revolutionary and life-changing project. By combining our cultural and community focus with Scarlet41’s global reach and sponsors, we are transforming the Old Post Office into a living example of heritage preservation and innovation in action.”

The Tunapuna Old Post Office, established in 1889, is a landmark of Trinidad and Tobago’s history. Through this partnership, it will be reborn as a center for creativity, education, and cultural exchange, symbolizing both the preservation of the past and the promise of the future.
