The Prestigious Beginnings
The partnership between Scarlet41 (S41) and Hyatt Hotels Corporation dates back to 2016 with the launch of our flagship Beyond Our Shores (BYOS) UK16 Programme at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill. Personally endorsed by Mark S. Hoplamazian, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, based in Chicago, Illinois, USA, this landmark event laid the foundation for a relationship built on shared values of excellence, luxury, and global impact.
This partnership has since facilitated Scarlet41’s global initiatives by providing unparalleled venues for interactions with high-level government officials, Olympians, public figures, private businesses, and international organizations. The Beyond Our Shores Programme is a month-long journey that combined leadership training, community engagement, and cultural immersion across the United Kingdom.
The BYOS UK16 Programme was more than just an international experience; it is a life-changing journey for 12 young professionals handpicked from disadvantaged communities. These individuals were not chosen at random; they were identified for their potential and invested in through rigorous training and development. Over time, they were transformed into well-dressed, all-rounded adults and equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to navigate the complexities of the modern world.
Pre-Departure Tobago Retreat
Before their departure to the United Kingdom, the participants were further prepared through a leadership retreat in Tobago, led by Teocah Dove, a recipient of the Queen’s Young Leader Award and S41’s representative on Etiquette, Gender, and Mentorship.
Teocah Dove, known for her extensive work in community development and her role as a Chevening Scholar, brought a wealth of experience in leadership and gender advocacy to the retreat. She was joined by Mr. Adrian Thomas, a Petroleum Geo-Scientist, Renewable Energy Engineer, and CEO of Renew Group, along with Jordan Edward Ross, A business Coach, Author and Mentor, CEO at Ross International.
Together, they focused on leadership, etiquette, and capacity development, ensuring the participants were well-prepared for the journey ahead.
A Grand Send-Off
Before their departure to the United Kingdom for our flagship programme, these young leaders were honored at the highest levels. Invited to the residence of the British High Commissioner, where they met with him personally, as well as representatives of the British Council. This meeting symbolized the importance of the journey they were about to undertake and the international significance of the BYOS Programme.
Their departure from Trinidad was marked by a grand ceremony at the Diplomatic Lounge of Piarco International Airport. The event, which reflected the high esteem in which these young professionals were held, was hosted by prominent presenter Jessie May Ventour. Surrounded by family, friends, and dignitaries, the participants were celebrated for their achievements and the journey they were about to embark on. This ceremonial send-off was a fitting start to an experience that would see them traveling in luxury, engaging with leaders across various sectors, and immersing themselves in the rich cultural and educational landscape of the United Kingdom.
The Journey to London
From the moment they left Piarco International Airport, these young professionals were facilitated at the highest levels, experiencing luxury travel and accommodations throughout their journey. The program’s itinerary was meticulously planned to ensure that each moment contributed to their personal and professional growth.
Upon arriving in the UK, the participants began their journey with a stay in an eco-friendly curved house in Lincolnshire, where they were introduced to the program’s core values: sustainability, community engagement, and leadership excellence. They then traveled to Wales, where they led projects in local schools, engaged with the community, and developed a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural fabric.
Their journey reached its pinnacle in London, where they were hosted at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill. This luxurious hotel provided the perfect backdrop for high-level engagements, including a private event at Harrods, a masterclass with the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, and an exclusive tour of the Royal Albert Hall. Their London experience also included significant interactions with the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and other key institutions, culminating in a graduation ceremony at Marlborough House.
A Lasting Partnership
The success of the BYOS Programme, made possible through the partnership with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, laid the groundwork for a long-lasting relationship that continues to flourish. The support from Hyatt, beginning with the personal endorsement of Mark S. Hoplamazian, was instrumental in ensuring that these young professionals received not just an education, but an experience that would transform their lives.
Today, Scarlet41 and Hyatt Hotels Corporation continue to collaborate on initiatives that combine luxury, leadership, and cultural immersion, setting new standards for excellence in global engagement and making a lasting impact on the world stage.
Hyatt properties have been central to our engagements with leading global institutions such as the Commonwealth Secretariat, United Nations, World Youth Forum, World Economic Forum, and the Organization of American States.
